School Meal Payments – Move to a Cashless System

As you are probably aware, we currently accommodate payments for school meals in several different ways.

Parents can pay either using cash or cheques on a daily, weekly or half termly basis and there is also an on-line facility for payments via the Suffolk County Council website for which there is a link on the school website.

Increasingly we are finding school meals payments to be in arrears which has financial implications for the school and in order to prevent this in the future, we are planning to move to a cash and cheque free system starting from September 2018 with payments needing to be made in advance via the on-line facility which many parents already use.

With this move to a “cashless system” in mind, we would encourage parents to begin using this on-line payment method during the coming weeks in order that by September they are familiar with its use. There is a link on the Elmswell school website to the secure payment page and the steps are simple to follow with no additional charges being incurred for either parents or the school. There is a minimum of transaction value of £11.50 using this system (the equivalent of 5 meals) and you will need to choose the dates in the future that your child is planning to take meals.  Meals not taken will be kept in credit.  If your account is in arrears, token dates can be selected.

We believe this to be a positive move for all parties involved – increased flexibility, security, accuracy and time-efficiency.

Please do contact the school office if you require and further information or help using the on-line system.

Thank you.
