Primary Science Quality Mark

Elmswell Primary School has undertaken to work towards the Primary Science Quality Mark.

This is a national award that enables primary schools across the UK to evaluate, strengthen and celebrate their science provision. We were awarded the Bronze level in Atumn 2017 and your children are and have been an essential part in attaining this award. If you have visited school recently then you will have seen the science displays around school which showcase just some of the excellent science your children are involved in throughout the school.

The children are engaged in their scientific learning in each class and are talking about science with enthusiasm and confidence. Recently KS1 has been learning about insulation by “huddling like Penguins” and carrying out a simple fair test. KS2 has been learning about the Water Cycle and the Earth, Sun and Moon.

Foundation Stage has also been taking advantage of the recent snow to investigate footprints, catching snowflakes and using their senses. Our Science fun doesn’t end there and over the coming months we are planning a number of events to continue to celebrate science at Elmswell Primary School including Wild Science workshops, British Science Week, the Tim Peake Project and the Bio Blitz.
